What’s it like trying to hit a bowling ball with a baseball bat? Just ask anyone who has faced Chien-Ming Wang. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a hitter who enjoys the All-Star pitcher’s heavy-handed tactics. Born in Taiwan and raised by adoptive parents, the New York Yankees ace learned his signature delivery four years after he arrived in the States. Now he splits more wood than a lumberjack. Back in his homeland, Chien-Ming has become a national hero. In his new home in the Bronx, he is equally adored. Chien-Ming has proven that what goes down can be amazingly uplifting. This is his story…

Heroes - Made in Taiwan
When asked to list Taiwan’s heroes, many people automatically pick Taiwan’s sporting greats such as pitching ace Wang Chien-ming of the New York Yankees. To be sure, Wang is a genuine hero, having helped bring better awareness of Taiwan to millions of people around the world while breaking international baseball records. And Wang is not alone. Other sporting heroes from Taiwan include Kevin Lin, one of the most well known endurance athletes in Asia who with team mates, in February 2007 became the first modern runner to cross the Sahara Desert.

Chien-Ming Wang struggles as New York Yankees fall, 7-5, to Baltimore Orioles
BALTIMORE -- Through the first two games of the season, the revamped New York Yankees rotation has posted these unsightly numbers: 14.63 ERA, 17 hits, eight walks, zero strikeouts. Still, after the Yankees 7-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, manager Joe Girardi refused to show any signs of panic.
"We have 160 left," he said. "There's a lot of baseball to be played."
There's reason for hope. The Yankees started a season 0-2 for the first time since 1998, when they began 1-4. That team bounced back to finish with 114 victories, then an American League record. This team? Only time will tell.

Rubenstein Public Relations Hired to Represent Guernsey's Auction of Yankee Memorabilia
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 15, 2008 -- Guernsey's, the three-decade-old auction house famous for presenting the finest cultural and historical artifacts, has hired Rubenstein Public Relations (RPR) to publicize its upcoming auction featuring hundreds of unique items celebrating Yankee history and the legendary baseball stadium.
The over 400 items up for auction include original architectural drawings used to build Yankee Stadium in the early 1920s; items signed, worn or used by Yankee greats Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle; and Yankee World Championship rings.
"We are pleased once again to partner with Rubenstein Public Relations to bring attention to this unique auction," said Arlan Ettinger, president of Guernsey's. "New Yorkers and baseball fans alike will appreciate these rare treasures."
RPR will generate feature placements on the auction in national print and broadcast outlets.
"We are thrilled to raise awareness of the history and legacy of the Yankees franchise," said RPR President Richard Rubenstein.
The auction will be held on October 18 at Madison Square Garden. In addition to Yankees memorabilia, the auction will feature two coveted Boston Red Sox items: a letter to Babe Ruth, who was still with the Red Sox, offering the slugger a cash bonus to hit more home runs and the team's 1912 World Series trophy.
RPR (www.rubensteinpr.com) has represented Guernsey's in past auctions, including those pertaining to John F. Kennedy, Elvis Presley, Jerry Garcia, John Coltrane and Mickey Mantle.
